How To GLOW- Staying Hydrated This Summer
Summer is almost in maximum overdrive, and being in the sunshine state, I know that the warmer it gets, the easier it is to experience excessive sun exposure and skin dehydration. Have you ever looked at your skin and complained about how it just seems dull? It’s because your poor skin is THIRSTY. You’re experiencing trans epidermal water loss or TEWL, where the moisture from your skin is evaporating faster than your body can replenish it. But seriously, don’t sweat it- pun intended. Here’s some killer advice on staying hydrated this summer and shining bright like a diamond all summer long.
Hydrate the Outside…
Layering is a great layer to deeply penetrate the surface of the skin and bring hydration back. This is especially true at night since that’s when our skin works on regenerating and repairing. So after you cleanse with something like our milk and honey cleanser and tone with the All Inclusive Toner, I recommend slathering your face with our Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is my secret weapon for plumping the skin, deeply hydrating and nourishing, and penetrating deep due to its molecular makeup. But here’s the pro tip for using HA: you want it to go on damp skin. HA holds over 1000 times its weight in water, so you want to have something on the skin for the HA to hold onto.
So after your cleansing routine, and once your skin is clean and still damp with water and/or the all inclusive toner, pat the HA into your face. To top it all off and seal in that moisture, I recommend Liquid Gold or Clarity Moisturizer for the day, and a richer cream like Renewal Night Cream for the evening. You want to create a moisture barrier, or an occlusion on the skin. Occlusions like Liquid Gold or any of asthetik’s moisturizers work by forming a protective layer on the surface of your skin to prevent moisture loss.
…Hydrate the Inside
This goes without saying… but i’m going to say it anyway- DRINK YOUR WATER. Your body needs it not only to survive, but to thrive. Here’s just a few reminders of what water can do for your body and staying hydrated this summer:
