How to Survive 2020
2020 has been crazy year… and its only March. Right now, the news, the economy and social distancing are enough to give anyone panic attacks. Time stuck at home has the potential to cause loneliness and undue anxiety. But it doesn’t have to be that way. We can use this as a time for self reflection, unplugging, and even to help others. So here are just a few tips on how to survive the craziness that 2020 has brought to the table.
Take Care of Yourself & Survive!
Your mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health need to be of utmost importance right now. So take time every day to to take care of yourself. If possible, go for a walk, or pull out your bike. Try stretching and deep breathing in the morning. Something as simple as 5 minutes, and youtube is full of great stretching tutorials. Or, try journaling! This journal is so cool, because it forces you to color outside the lines, and not be too perfect, which is something I at times struggle with. Paint, play an instrument, master wood carving. Find something that you’ve always wanted to try, and never had time for it before. See the positive in all of this, and use the time to your advantage. For me, having a schedule or do to list for my day helps me feel more accomplished. Even if you schedule in your stretching, you can look back at the end of the day and see what you spent your time on, and feel good about it.

Eat Right and Hydrate
Let’s be real. When I’m home, my favorite activity is snacking. Most of the time I’m not even hungry, or surviving I’m just simply bored. And of course, my favorite snacks are anything salty or sweet. Which just leads to overeating, and feeling sick. If you can relate, try keeping your mind and your hands busy. Try a puzzle! They can be really relaxing, and it keeps your mind and hands occupied and out of the chip bag. Let’s also use this time at home to try out some of the recipes we’ve been pinning to Pinterest for years, but never had time to make. Don’t forget to stay hydrated during all of this! Set reminders on your phone to pause and grab some water throughout the day. Let’s keep ourselves in good shape so we can fight this year and win!

Stay Germ Free
Social distancing does save lives right now. So stay home as much a humanly possible. When you do need to go out, wear gloves, or wash your hands often. Don’t touch your face- something our estheticians has been telling us for some time. Keep up your vitamins, try essential oils, keep the house clean… I could write an entire article just on this topic. I probably will, so stay tuned!
Let’s Help Each Other and Survive
Something that always helps me gain perspective is helping others. When we isolate, our problems become overwhelming. So, don’t lose contact with your friends and family. Even if you can’t be in person, FaceTime, Skype, and apps like these make it feel as though you’re together. Do you have an older neighbor or friend that may be feeling a bit lonely? Send them a card, or give them a call. It’s simple things that can help us survive and feel good about our contribution to keeping each other happy, healthy, and safe during one crazy year.
